Professors Karen Bradshaw of Arizona State University and Holly Doremus of the University of California at Berkeley discussed Professor Bradshaw’s new book Wildlife as Property Owners: A New Conception of Animal Rights in a webinar on March 1, 2021, sponsored by the Coleman P. Burke Center for Environmental Law.

The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law’s faculty is ranked 30th in the country in scholarly impact, based on citations to their articles.

Congratulations to the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law Jessup International Law Moot Court team, which competed last weekend in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court U.S. Regional Competition.

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law has received funding commitments of over $1 million from the Stanton Foundation to establish a First Amendment Clinic and First Amendment Clinic Fellowship in the school’s Milton A. Kramer Law Clinic Center.

Several organizations rank law schools each year. Collectively, these organizations rank ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ in a range from 56th to 72nd best law school in the nation (out of 204). In addition, some rank specialty programs, where ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ particularly excels.

In a trend accelerated by the coronavirus, the law is increasingly technology-driven, from the way lawyers prepare cases to the way courts try them. 

In early February, the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law Ault Mock Trial Team placed second out of 32 teams from across the country in the 13th annual Costello National Criminal Law Trial Advocacy Competition hosted by George Mason University School of Law.  The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ team was also named best prosecution team in the competition.

Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Frank Dallet (LAW ‘94) delighted the students in the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law Appellate Litigation Clinic when she joined a Zoom seminar session on Feb. 10.

In a recent verdict from the Washington Court of Appeals, Professor Bryan Adamson (LAW ‘90) won a groundbreaking victory for re-entry rights of formerly incarcerated citizens that will help curb unjust debt collection practices in the state of Washington.

The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law Black Law Student Association (BLSA) Mock Trial team was victorious in the Midwest Regional Rounds of the prestigious Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition from February 3-5, 2021, which was held online.  

Peter Gerhart, longtime professor and former dean of the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law, passed away on February 7, 2021, after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He is survived by his wife Ann, his children and grandchildren. 

While working as a visiting professional at The Hague in 2019, third-year law student Laura Graham was a participant in one of the most controversial cases to come before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in recent years.

For the fourth year in a row, the international law program at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ received an A+ 

As the 2021 graduating class prepares to begin their legal careers, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law is proud to announce that six soon-to-be alumni will begin work as federal judicial clerks in the fall. 

Cassandra Burke Robertson, the John Deaver Drinko—BakerHostetler Professor of Law and director of the Center for Professional Ethics has been appointed by the Supreme Court of Ohio to its Commission on the Rules of Practice and Procedure.
