On June 8, 2021, �ǿմ�ý School of Law professors had an online discussion with a team of Thai Human Rights experts, organized by the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program and the Cleveland Council on World Affairs.

With its new JumpStart program �ǿմ�ý School of Law is providing incoming 1L students the opportunity to begin their law school career a few months early.

Director of the First Amendment Clinic Andy Geronimo was quoted recently in an article about a new, interactive course offered by Northeast Ohio Solutions Journalism Collaborative and the Cleveland Documenters which teaches people how to access local public records.

Professor Bryan Adamson was selected as a recipient of the university’s inaugural “Think Big Leadership Award,” which will be formally presented by incoming President Eric Kaler and Provost and Executive Vice President Ben Vinson III at a ceremony on October 5.

On Sunday, May 16, �ǿմ�ý School of Law celebrated the Class of 2021 during an in-person commencement ceremony at Freiberger Field. A recording of the ceremony is available to view online.

The following awards were determined by a spring vote by the graduating class of 2021. Professor of the Year Award In grateful appreciation for outstanding teaching and dedication, this award is presented to the late Professor Peter M. Gerhart.

Excellence and Achievement Awards Patricia Burgess Public Law Prize Presented to Christine Scherer for outstanding academic performance in the field of public law.

Professors Madison Condon of Boston University and Kevin Haeberle of William and Mary Law School discussed climate change, financial markets and corporate disclosure in a May 25. 2021 webinar sponsored by the Coleman P. Burke Center for Environmental Law.

Milton A. Kramer Clinic Center Awards Jack Cronquist Award Presented to Michael Gibbons for demonstrating outstanding performance and commitment to clients in the Milton A. Kramer Law Clinic Center.

In a virtual ceremony attended by family and friends on May 19, fourteen exceptional �ǿմ�ý law students were honored with Case Global Service Awards for their extraordinary contributions to the School of Law’s top-ranked International Law Program.

Writing Awards Stanley I. and Hope S. Adelstein Environmental Law Award Presented to Henry Holmes for preparing the best paper on environmental law.

Cleveland is home to some of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the country and �ǿմ�ý, with the top Bar Pass rate in the State and 20th best in the nation, has a history of extraordinary success in placing its grads in major law firms in Cleveland, as well as other big cities across the country. 

Third-year law students Naomi Gahyun Kim and Rachel Lamparelli had outstanding experiences in their capstone externships. At the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) Public Health Law Program, Kim focused on state vaccination laws and researched the constitutional and civil rights implications of potential vaccine mandates.

On May 13, �ǿմ�ý School of Law held its annual “Celebration of Faculty”  in-person under the tent on East Bell Commons. In a year of challenges like none other, Co-Dean Jessica Berg said the purpose of the annual celebration was “to recognize faculty members who made extraordinary contributions over the past year.”
