Research Tools and Applications

The Office of Research and Technology Management uses a range of applications and systems for the administration of research at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. Here’s a list of the commonly used systems.

Systems for the Administration of Research

SpartaCOI

is the system for administering conflict of interest disclosures and certifications. This is the tool used for researchers and non-research staff members.

SpartaGrants and Agreements

is the system for the submission, management and tracking of sponsored projects at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. The system replaced , which remains available with read-only access.

is used to manages initiation, review and execution of agreements. This system enables specialists to communicate with Technology Transfer Office (TTO), University Technology (UTech), the University Compliance Program and the Office of General Counsel, regarding agreement terms and conditions.

SpartaIRB

is the system for submitting to the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and University Hospitals Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Spiderweb

is the platform that houses effort reporting information and CREC certifications.

iRIS

is the system for Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) submissions.

PeopleSoft 

PeopleSoft Financials is used for creating and inquiring on financial journals, payment requests and requisitions. University Technology offers PeopleSoft Financials training and additional information.

PeopleSoft Reporting is used to run financial reports.

PeopleSoft HCM is the Human Capital Management System, an administrative database used for employee records, employee benefits and payroll. The system also includes the time reporting system used by all staff and student employees as well as an online recruiting system used for all staff positions.

Data.case.edu

The university Data Tableau server (data.case.edu) is the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ enterprise environment that meets most of the data needs at the university, which includes financial, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and personal identifying data.

The HCM-Human Resources report found at  can be a useful tool for assisting with the completion of Effort Reporting. For access to these reports, contact resadm@case.edu with your name, department OPR, and the reason you need access. We will help facilitate access.

Proposal and Award Database System (PADS)

is the internal financial reporting tool for research administrators.

OSPARS

contains management level summary reports of proposals and awards across the university over a period of three to five years prior to the current fiscal year.
