(D-OH) will present the 2021 Mandel School Commencement Address at this year's diploma ceremony, taking place in-person on Saturday, May 29, in early afternoon.
Since January 2007, Brown has been a champion of middle-class families in the Senate. A lifelong Ohioan, Senator Brown has spent his career fighting for the —the idea that hard work should pay off for everyone, no matter who you are, where you live, or what kind of work you do. He has held nearly 500 roundtables across Ohio because he believes the best ideas don’t come out of Washington—they come from conversations with Ohioans.
Senator Brown serves as Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, the powerful Finance Committee, the Agriculture Committee, and is the longest serving Ohioan on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
Born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio, Brown earned his Eagle Scout award and spent summers working on his family’s farm. He is the author of three books, and is married to Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Connie Schultz.
The Mandel School’s graduation ceremony will be held outside, rain or shine, at Freiberger Field, in front of the Tinkham Veale University Center. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the university cannot accommodate guests at this year’s event, but it will be streamed live online (details forthcoming).
