About Our Center
The challenges that will face the medical and health law professions in the coming decades are enormous. And the Law-Medicine Center is uniquely poised to prepare its students to address these challenges. The center is the oldest health law program in the country. The field of health law effectively began with the creation of the center in 1953. Our Law-Medicine Center鈥檚 offerings include a wealth of courses, experiential learning opportunities, several graduate programs, outstanding faculty, extracurricular activities, experiential learning opportunities, job placement assistance and more.
Our health law curriculum offers a wide range of courses, seminars, and clinical practice opportunities to students interested in the full array of health law subjects鈥攆rom corporate law firm practice to bioethics, from medical malpractice advocacy to government regulation of health care providers. Students do not have to wait until their second or third year to begin work in the health law curriculum. Each year we offer an elective course in health law to first year students.

Professor Jessie Hill wins Champion for Women Award
May 24, 2023Jessie Hill was given the Champion for Women Award by the Cuyahoga Democratic Women鈥檚 Caucus for her advocacy and litigation in the area of reproductive rights. For several years, Hill has been involved in legal challenges to laws restricting access to abortion in Ohio.
Professor Jessie Hill and Alum Becca Kendis Honored by ACLU of Ohio for Reproductive Rights Advocacy
January 12, 2023Professor Jessie Hill and 星空传媒 Reproductive Rights Fellow Becca Kendis (LAW '19, MSASS '19) were honored by the ACLU of Ohio for their advocacy of reproductive rights in Ohio. Both Hill and Kendis are on the litigation team challenging Ohio's 6-week abortion ban, which is currently blocked by the courts.

Professor Jessie Hill Successfully Challenges Ohio Abortion Ban
October 19, 2022On Oct. 7th Professor Jessie Hill and her team won a temporary but important victory in their battle to end Ohio鈥檚 ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Christian Jenkins granted a preliminary injunction against Ohio鈥檚 abortion ban.
