Sree Rekha pursued a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) with a focus on Medical and Psychiatry at Bharata Mata College, Kerala, graduating with honors in 2021 and Master of Arts in Psychology specialised in counselling from Indira Gandhi National Open University in 2024. Sree Rekha's professional experiences have been diverse and impactful. Following her master's degree, she served as a Gandhi fellow in Bihar, concentrating on health and education initiatives in rural communities, which ignited her interest in parenting styles across different socio-economic settings. Her fieldwork experiences, including teaching in Jamui district schools, inspired her to delve deeper into child stress and family dynamics. During her master's studies, Sree Rekha conducted research on ‘youth stress and coping strategies during the COVID-19 lockdown in Kochi’, shedding light on the challenges faced by young adults during unprecedented times. Her academic pursuits have also resulted in numerous publications and presentations on topics ranging from plastic pollution and marine ecology to juvenile delinquency and family dynamics.
Her dedication extends beyond academia. She has actively engaged with various organizations, including Lead India, Jeevika, DKMS-BMST India and several NGOs, providing psychological support to marginalized groups such as visually impaired individuals and migrant workers. Her involvement in government initiatives like 'Nasha Mukth Bharath Abhiyan' underscores her commitment to community welfare and advocacy. With a wealth of experience in social work, research, and community engagement, Sree Rekha looks forward to commencing her doctoral program in child stress and parenting, where she aims to contribute innovative ideas and insights to the field. Her multifaceted background and unwavering passion make her a valuable asset to any academic institution dedicated to advancing knowledge and improving societal well-being.
