Meechie Poston (they/them) received their BSW in 2023 and MSW in 2024 from Miami University. They found their interest in forensic social work through their undergraduate research, focusing on re-entry. This interest led them to push for a practicum experience at Warren Correctional Institution for their Master's program, where they interned as a Behavioral Health Practitioner. While earning their MSW, Meechie joined the Miami University psychology lab, Center for the Study and Support of Children and Families of the Incarcerated, focusing on the effects of drug laws on previously incarcerated African American mothers and their relationships with their children and caregivers. Their coursework and practicum have led to their current research interest in re-entry hardships, violence prevention, and the lived experiences of current and former incarcerated transgender and gender non-conforming adults.
