Mindfulness Matters Week returns Oct. 18–20. The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ community will have opportunities to learn about and practice mindfulness with Zoom presentations from mindfulness experts from across the United States.
Assistant Professor Marjorie Edguer is one of the faculty members involved with planning Mindfulness Matters.
Tuesday, Oct. 18 | 1 to 2 p.m.
Sara W. Lazar, associate professor in the psychiatry department at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, will discuss how mindfulness practice helps with stress, pain, and fear. Lazar also will present study data on the effects of mindfulness on memory, attention and executive functioning.
Wednesday, Oct. 19 | 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Martin Belzer, adjunct associate professor in the UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, will lead a workshop that will include an overview of mindfulness and how we practice it in meditation, a brief guided meditation, and a discussion of how mindfulness can be used to deal with difficult physical and mental states.
Thursday, Oct. 20 | Noon to 1 p.m.
Suzanne Cushwa Rusnak, independent mindfulness teacher, consultant and coach and the mindfulness coordinator for University Hospitals’ Connor Whole Health, will discuss how mindfulness helps build personal connections in her presentation.
