Funding Guidelines

January 2024 – December 2024

Funding Award Criteria

  1. Has potential benefit to the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Medicine and its student population.
  2. Has a clear connection to medicine or medical student life.
  3. Includes/invites/is open to the entire School of Medicine.

Funding Decisions Information

  1. The policy period for these guidelines is July 2024 – December 2024.
  2. Interest groups must be registered with CSR to be eligible to receive funding.
  3. Registered interest groups are eligible (not entitled) for up to $100 per event per semester. The event maximum of $100 may be increased to $150 if the people who are signed up to attend number over 50. Each group may request funding for up to three events per semester for a maximum total of $450.
    1. The fall semester is July 2024 – December 2024.
    2. Groups requiring funds in excess of the maximum need to secure special approval.
    3. Groups co-sponsoring an event are limited to an event maximum of $150 for a single event unless they secure special approval. The event maximum may be increased to $180 if the people who are signed up to attend number over 50.
    4. To be eligible for funding, groups must take attendance and complete the group event reimbursement form and return it to the CSR treasurer.
  4. Funding for eligible events will be provided until allocated funds are exhausted for the semester.
    1. Groups that have not received funding will receive priority over groups that have already received funding.
    2. Requests being reconsidered will be given consideration equal to requests submitted for the first time.
    3. Funding for gifts and donations will be given lowest priority.
  5. Should funding in any category (Individual, Group, Co-Sponsored Event) remain by a given date late in the semester (December 20, 2024 for the Fall 2024 semester), all remaining funds will enter into a shared flex fund. At this time, groups who have not previously exhausted their funding may reapply to receive reimbursements from this fund, following the guidelines given in (3) and (4).
  6. CSR reserves the right to deny funding or reduce the amount of funding granted.  Reasons why funding may be denied or reduced include (but are not limited to):
    1. Insufficient funds.
    2. Funding request does not meet funding award criteria.
    3. Funding request procedures are not met.

Funding Decisions Information

  1. The policy period for these guidelines is August 2024 – December 2024.
  2. Individuals must be a current medical student in good standing at the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Medicine to be eligible to receive funding.
  3. Individuals are eligible (not entitled) for up to $100 of funding within the following categories and guidelines:
    1. ​Conference + Professional Organization (including annual meetings/conference, poster presentations, annual student memberships, etc.)
    2. Individual Study Materials (including online study resource memberships, etc.)
      1. ​NOTE:  only $50 per semester can be allocated per student towards Individual Study Materials (the remainder may be allocated towards Conference + Professional Organization Expenses.)
    3. ​The fall semester is July 2024 - December 2024.
  4. Funding for individuals will be provided until allocated funds are exhausted for the semester.
    1. Reimbursements are made on a first-come-first serve basis and reimbursements for second conferences will only be made after reimbursements for all students requesting funding for a first conference have been made.
    2. Requests being reconsidered will be given consideration equal to requests submitted for the first time.
    3. Funding for gifts and donations will be given lowest priority.
  5. Research Conference Funding Information

There are funds available to support travel to conferences to present research and scholarship conducted as an MD student. UP students can apply for up to $500 per year to support conference travel, hotel, and/or registration. Please visit the Funding & Forms page to review all eligibility requirements and submit an application. We encourage you to apply prior to your trip, but reimbursement will be provided only after the trip and with appropriate receipts.
