Translational Fellows Program

The Translational Fellow Program (TFP) seeks to train individuals in entrepreneurship and the translation of innovation into commercial ventures by connecting them to programs and workshops around campus while protecting time for entrepreneurial activities.

Meet the 2020-2021 Fellows

  • Must have a salary or stipend paid through a CTSC affiliate and/or be supported by a training grant. Applications are especially encouraged from later-stage doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows.
  • Currently working with a PI on a CTSC affiliate-based technology that can be explored for commercialization potential. If applicant does not have a project but wants to be involved, please reach out to us. 
  • Must be willing to commit to 20% effort for 9-12 months, starting September 1st.
  • Support from your PI to participate in the program
  • Commitment to one day/week (20%) for participation in the fellowship, which includes: 
    • Participation in the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Venture Mentor Program
    • Participation in Cleveland I-Corps@NCATS program with your team, including the PI of the technology
    • Monthly group meetings
    • Three Minute Thesis competition
    • Business plan competition
    • Skills development sessions
    • Several external networking events
    • Final presentation
  • Ability to attend in-person (except select components for participants traveling from outside of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½/Cleveland area)
  • 20% effort protected for 9-12 months (with salary coverage when needed)
  • Training and support for commercialization skill development
  • Entrepreneurship/commercialization mentoring team
  • Traveling funds for participants outside of local region
  • Interest in entrepreneurship
  • Technology proposed to evaluate during the fellowship
  • Support letter from PI, or alternative plan
  • Applications are encouraged from all backgrounds
