Research Information

Research Interests

Emily Hannon’s areas of interest include disease ecology of freshwater trematodes, transmission cycles of vector-borne arboviruses, and more recently malaria immunology as she begins her dissertation research. Emily is working on gene expression and epigenetics of Kenyan children in response to a malaria infection, which may lead to important insights for disease-fighting interventions. Kenya still has high morbidity and mortality from Plasmodium falciparum despite the advances in the effort to eliminate malaria.
