Biomedical & Health Informatics Master's FAQs

You can request that the GRE requirement be waived if you have a previous graduate/professional level degree OR strong evidence of work experience in a quantitative field. If you request that the GRE be waived, the admissions committee will review your application without the GRE scores, but they reserve the right to request those scores or other supplemental materials after their initial review if needed to render an admission decision.

If you have been unable to take the GRE due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, you can also request to have the GRE requirement waived.

You can request that the TOEFL requirement be waived if you have a previous degree awarded from an institution where instruction was done in English. If you request that the TOEFL be waived, the admissions committee will review your application without the TOEFL scores, but they reserve the right to request those scores or other supplemental materials after their initial review if needed to render an admission decision.

We also can accept the IELTS and PTE as a substitute for the TOEFL test.

The cost is based on a per credit hour rate. A student is required to take 30 credits hours of coursework to obtain a Master’s in Biomedical and Health Informatics. Therefore, the cost would be estimated by multiplying 30 credit hours by the current per credit hour rate, which can be found on the Student Financial Services website. Tuition is evaluated and adjusted each year. Since the program can take more than a year to complete the aforementioned calculation would be an estimate of the total cost.

We are looking to enroll 8-10 students for Fall 2021.

We consider students from any undergraduate degree program.

Our students come from a wide range of disciplines, such as Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, Clinical Care, Health Care Management & Administration, and Health & Biomedical Sciences.

Currently, the program does not offer any financial aid directly to our MS students. Financial Aid is available through the Office of Financial Aid.

You can start the MS in Biomedical and Health Informatics program in either the Fall or Spring semester.

Yes, the program can be completed on a part-time basis. Part time students will take 3-6 credits (1-2 courses) each semester (Fall and Spring).  

Note, if you are on a student visa, you must maintain full time status.

Students in our MS in Biomedical and Health Informatics program are eligible to apply for the PhD program in Biomedical and Health Informatics. Your application will be considered along with all the other PhD applications. The advantage is that your time in the MS program will allow you to develop relationships with and gain letters of recommendation from ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ faculty. We do not guarantee admission to the PhD program upon completion of the MS program.
