Cleveland Chili Cook Off

On October 26th, 2024, the MSA program hosted its first Chili Cook-off in partnership with Lifebox to raise funds for global anesthesia safety. The event, held in Cleveland, successfully raised over $1,300, which will help distribute the Lifebox Capnograph and Lifebox Oximeter to the community!

MSA faculty, staff, first and second-year students, and clinical instructors from the Cleveland area attended and competed in the competition. The first-place winner was our very own Cleveland program director, Carie Twichell --, whose "Texas Love" chili was chosen by a blinded panel of taste testers!

Another highlight of the event was a generous beverage donation from Emily McGroarty, a CAA at University Hospitals and clinical instructor for our program. She donated beverages from her own restaurant that she started with her husband in Hudson, OH, displaying her entrepreneurship in addition to being a clinical instructor.

We thank everyone who attended the cook-off and donated in support of global anesthesia safety and look forward to hosting another fundraiser next year!
