Wellness Surveys

In April of 2023, we administered a survey to all benefits eligible ǿմý employees via a direct email invitation and gained valuable insights and feedback, including the following.

  • 770 people completed the survey.
  • 83% of respondents indicated they had participated in the Wellness Program in 2022-2023.
  • Of those who had not participated, the main reason cited was “I was too busy/my workload did not allow participation” (31%).
  • Of those who had not participated, the main factors reported that would motivate them to participate in the future were an increase in incentives (32%) and making incentives available to all (23%), as wellness incentives are not currently available to those who are not on the university’s medical plan.
  • Biometric screenings reportedly made the most significant impact on those who had participated in the Wellness Program, followed by Walktober and the Health Risk Assessment. It is important to note that these activities have higher participation rates than many other aspects of the Wellness Program.
  • 93% of the respondents who had participated would rate the ǿմý Wellness Program as “excellent” or “good” (up from 86% from the 2019 Wellness Program Survey).
  • 96% of respondents who had participated indicated they were “somewhat likely” or “extremely likely” to refer other ǿմý faculty and staff to the Wellness Program.
  • When respondents were asked to rank their interest in the seven program categories that existed at the time, Physical Activity was ranked the highest, followed by Nutrition/Weight Management.
  • Adding Health Coaching as an offering and incentive category was the most supported idea if the Wellness Program were to expand.

Program Evaluations

Spring 2023:  47 participated in the series and 24 completed the evaluation.

  • 96% rated the series and instructor as "Excellent" or "Very Good".
  • "I love the exercises and the way they progressed. Also, being able to work out after work and not just lunch has been a huge help!"
  • "Being able to make this commitment, gave me something to look forward to each week. I also found myself drinking more water and eating cleaner."

Fall 2023:  84 registrants

  • "It helped me most with handling and coping with difficult moments and conversations."
  • "I have learned to recognize and process changes around me so that I remain grounded and mentally fortified."
  • "“I was able to think about what I want out of work. I was challenged to ask for a raise and now there are steps being taken to reach that goal thanks to my request."
  • "I love all of the techniques and tips. It changed my attitude and gave me a lot to think about."
  • Pre- to Post-Program results:
    • "I'm flourishing and experiencing positive well-being."  (27% increase)
    • "I'm burned out or very close to it."  (28% decrease)
    • "I manage my stress well."  (24% increase)
    • "I'm clear on what's next for me in my career."  (41% increase)

Reflection Point | Community Well-being

2017 - 2021:  253 faculty and staff have participated in this experience via 21 different groups

  • "The importance of Reflection Point for organizations like mine can not be underestimated. Society is moving more and more to less networking, less interaction and less emphasis on building appropriate professional work relationships in large and diverse organizations.  Reflection Point provides an outlet to build those relationships and networks over time."
  • "This group provided a wonderful opportunity to interact with many thoughtful, sensitive, and intelligent members of the ǿմý campus who I otherwise would never have even met, much less talked to."
  • Pre- to Post-Program results:
    • "I feel that people at work understand who I am."  (2.3% increase)
    • "It is safe for me to take a risk in this organization."  (3.8% increase)
    • "I am able to bring up problems and tough issues with my coworkers."  (5.3% increase)
