The Peter B. Lewis Building redefines the way a business school should look, just as Weatherhead redefines the way management education should be taught.
About the Building
The Peter B. Lewis Building stands as an architectural landmark in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood. Featuring the sculptural profile, gleaming stainless steel siding, and gravity-defying angles that audiences have come to associate with the architect , our building both sets our school apart and, quite literally, reflects our prestigious surroundings. Our immediate neighbors include the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Severance Hall, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and more.
About Peter B. Lewis
In 1965, in one of the first leveraged buyouts in history, Peter B. Lewis took control of his family’s 100-employee Cleveland insurance company. His radical idea: insure drivers no other company would touch. Forty years later, the Progressive Corporation is the nation’s third-largest auto insurer with 27,000 employees and sales of $13.4 billion.
In 1999, Lewis donated $36.9 million to the Weatherhead School to construct the building that bears his name—the most recent gift in a series of contributions to ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ honoring four generations of the Lewis family who have attended the university.
The Peter B. Lewis Building is available to rent on a limited basis for business purposes.
