George S. Dively, a business leader and visionary who pioneered the concept of professional management and advocated the continuing development of practicing executives, was Chairman Emeritus of Harris Corporation, a multinational producer of high-technology communications and information processing equipment. 

During his 35-year tenure with Harris, he exemplified effective, participative leadership, and his legacy helped to form the foundation of modern management practice. With his remarkable ability to envision and anticipate changes to come, Dively espoused the value of long-term organizational planning and life-long executive development.

The son of a schoolteacher, Dively was committed to personal and corporate involvement in the advancement of higher education. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and had a positive impact upon the growth and development of this institution. He was likewise dedicated to the renewal of the Greater Cleveland community and was a driving force behind the creation of Cleveland Tomorrow.
