SIS Financial Hold and Removing a Hold
A financial hold (code starting with "B") may be placed on a student record that restricts access to university services, including initial registration for the future semester, official transcripts, and/or diploma.
Following are the most common financial holds and how to remove them.

Past Due Balance (B01) |
Student Loan Past Due This hold indicates that one or more of your tuition account or institutional loans serviced by Heartland ECSI (not a Federal Direct Loan) is past due. |
Holds initial registration for future semester Holds diploma/certificate

You can access your account, make a payment, and view entitlement eligibility (deferment/forbearance) online at or by contacting ECSI directly at (888) 549-3274. Once your account is current you may contact Student Financial Services at 216.368.5931 or email loans@case.edu to have your hold released. Release of the hold is subject to our past due hold release policy. If one or more of your loan accounts is more than 5 months past due, those accounts may have been sent to one of our contracted collection agencies and will no longer be visible on the Heartland ECSI website. Contact Heartland ECSI (888-549-3274) for further information regarding the agency your account is placed with. |
Past Due - Registration OK (B02) |
Balance Due on Account This hold indicates an amount past due on a student’s account. |
Holds diploma/certificate |

Account sent to collections (B08) |
Account sent to Collections This hold indicates that your tuition account is now serviced by Heartland ECSI or been assigned to a collection agency. |

Exit Interview Needed (B04) |
Student loan exit interview required This hold indicates that exit counseling is required for a loan managed by ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. |

Please login to your account and complete the outstanding exit requirement for each outstanding loan or contact Loans at 216.368.5931 or loans@case.edu. Holds are released within two (2) business days after the requirement has been completed. |
Financial Preregistration (B11 or B15) |
Financial Responsibility This hold indicates that you have an unsigned Student Financial Responsibility Agreement. |
