KSL welcomes individuals who have personal research needs and offers the collections for browsing, reading and scanning. Many of these resources are available to both ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ alumni and community patrons.
KSL is open to alumni and community members during designated hours of the week. See the KSL Hours page or call the KSL Service Center at 216.368.3506 for current access hours. Please note that library hours may be reduced during holidays and academic break periods. In accordance with KSL’s ID Policy, all alumni and community members must present a valid government-issued photo ID at the door to enter the building.
Note: University policy requires that individuals 16 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the library. Unaccompanied minors needing assistance with government information or government publications should contact a Research Services Librarian or staff at the Service Center desk prior to visiting the library.
There are four designated computers available for alumni and community access at KSL. Community visitors are allowed 2 hours of computer use per day. To login to a computer, community visitors will need to visit the KSL Service Center and sign in. Visitor computers shut down 30 minutes prior to the end of community visitor access hours for the day. Login access ends 60 minutes prior to the end of community visitor access hours for the day.

Remote access to electronic content is currently restricted to ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ faculty, students, and staff. Alumni and community members may use designated community computers at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ libraries to view electronic content.
All patrons are required to comply with copyright laws and acceptable use policy.
There are two WEPA printing stations on the main floor of KSL, one is a color printer while the other is exclusively black and white. WEPA is a cloud-based printing network that allows anyone with an internet connection to upload documents and print anywhere a WEPA kiosk is located.
Community members and alumni can create a WEPA guest account. Guest accounts have full access to the WEPA network. While an account is not required to print or pay for print jobs, the available options to print are more limited.
Patrons without a WEPA account can print from a USB drive or cloud service at the kiosk. Jobs can also be printed in advance using the print driver or email-to-print and released using a code. Patrons can pay at the time of printing with a credit card, PayPal, or a $5 WEPA print card available for purchase near the entrance of KSL. WEPA print cards must be purchased with cash.
Alumni-Specific Privileges
All ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Alumni are eligible for access to over 30 alumni-licensed databases, community computer use, limited Freedman Center resources, printing services, and borrowing privileges that extend beyond KSL.
To apply for Alumni services, you will need your ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Network ID and password. Please contact [U]Tech for help obtaining a network ID or resetting your password.

Once your application is processed, you will receive a welcome email with instructions to access online resources. If you live in Ohio, you will be sent a physical library card.
Alumni have borrowing privileges from KSL, The Lillian and Milford Harris Library,, and libraries. Alumni cards give you up to 5 concurrent OhioLINK transactions.

Licensing restrictions do not allow alumni access to all of the Case online resources that are available to current students. KSL provides access to selected research databases covering a wide variety of subjects. For more details about these databases and recommended free web resources, visit the.

KSL's Freedman Center offers limited resources for alumni use. Alumni are welcome to use the Freedman Center lab with scanning equipment and research stations, the A/V capture studio, and the selfie studio. (Alumni do not have access to KSL's equipment borrowing program.)

Community-Specific Privileges
KSL welcomes community members and offers a variety of resources to individuals who are not affiliated with ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. These include computer access, limited borrowing, printing, and scanning services.
Patrons of OhioLINK or SearchOhio Member Institutions may borrow items from KSL. For example, a Kent State University patron may check out books from KSL, or a ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ patron may check out books from John Carroll University. In order to borrow, community patrons must have an ID from their home institution with them.

Community patrons may also use KSL materials inside of the library, although some in-house resources carry restrictions.
Community members have the option to save digital scans of material with KSL's KIC scanners located on the first floor of the building. These scanners allow patrons to email a pdf of the scanned documents to themselves or download the documents onto a USB drive.
