Imagine if the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco guest taught one of your law school classes. Or a Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court. Or the host of a famous law podcast? “With our faculty’s connections, at �ǿմ�ý School of Law, we regularly have prominent jurists, high-level Justice officials and national figures as guest teachers,” said Co-Dean Michael Scharf. “And this semester features some of the best yet.”

On April 4, Steve Dettelbach, Director of the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms joined the students in Jonathan Leiken’s and Caitlin Bell’s White Collar Crime course for a discussion on his life, career and work as a US Attorney. Dettelbach also spoke on the Biden Administration’s continuing work to bring about meaningful gun reform in Congress and in the enforcement of existing gun laws in America. 

On Thursday, April 6, the Honorable Michael P. Donnelly (pictured, left), a justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, was interviewed by Jerry Weiss in his Mediation class on the topic of the “Death of Dialogue and the Need to Regain It.” Justice Donnelly presented a forward-looking perspective, both with respect to jurisprudence and our discourse as a society in general.

The following Tuesday, April 11, Preet Bharara, host of the Stay Tuned with Preet podcast and former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York will join Leiken’s and Bell’s White Collar Crime class. Bharara will speak about his work as a US Attorney, his book “Doing Justice” and his firing by President Trump in 2017. He will also provide his perspectives on the recent indictment of the former president by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office before answering questions from students and guests. Visitors can join the discussion in classroom A57 at 5:30 pm.
