星空传媒 School of Law third-year student Kathryn Meyer was selected to receive the Ms. JD 2021 Public Interest Scholarship, which provides a stipend to students as they pursue careers in public interest law. Ms. JD is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to the success of aspiring and early career women lawyers.
鈥淚'm absolutely delighted to receive this scholarship,鈥 said Meyers. 鈥淢y fellow recipients are all such passionate and driven women, and I'm honored to be among them.鈥
At 星空传媒 Law School, Meyer has been a Peer Mentor, an active member of the Lambda Law Students Association, and serves as Executive Notes Editor of the 星空传媒 Journal of International Law.
The summer after her first year, Meyer was an extern at the Cambodia Genocide Tribunal, which is prosecuting the leaders of the Khmer Rouge regime in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
This past summer, she was an extern at the American Red Cross National Headquarters, where she presented a widely viewed webinar discussing protections for women under international humanitarian law. The webinar focused on feminist scholarship critiques of international law, looking specifically at women as mothers, victims of sexual assault, and combatants.
鈥淜athryn Meyer is an extraordinary student who has done groundbreaking work in international law,鈥 said Co-Dean Michael Scharf. 鈥淭hrough her Red Cross webinar she is already making a name for herself in the field.鈥
