Event Description
One of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law's most distinguished graduates, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, will participate in an informal fire-side chat with Dean Michael Scharf in the Moot Courtroom at the Law School. The free-ranging conversation will cover Minister Champagne's experience at our Law School, his remarkable career and the state of Canadian-U.S. relations.
Speaker Bio
Since 2015, François-Philippe Champagne has served as a Member of Parliament, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of International Trade of Canada. He is currently the Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry. Minister Champagne is a businessman, lawyer and international trade specialist with over 20 years’ experience at large international companies in Europe, particularly in the fields of energy, engineering and innovation. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Montréal and a Master of Laws from ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Law. Minister Champagne also studied public and private international law at The Hague Academy of International Law, in the Netherlands. In 2018, he received the Honorary Doctorate from ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and delivered the Law School's Commencement Address.
