This presentation will begin with the basics relevant to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) technology and the platforms of trade and a discussion of how NFTs will likely become more common in the economy to share things of value or to track ownership. It will also cover how this new technology has potential use in fraud, money laundering and terrorist financing.
About the Speaker
Ryann Dies (Dees) currently serves as compliance & ethics director at Walmart and, before that, was AML compliance officer at MoneyGram International. She has extensive experience in financial crimes and compliance management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Kent State University. Ryann has approximately 10 years in the financial services industry, ranging from mid-size to Fortune 200 U.S. financial institutions, and experience in the Money Services Business (MSB) industry. She is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). She has testified as an expert witness in various local, state, and federal financial crimes cases.
Ryann’s experience focuses on conducting financial crimes investigations, pursuing recovery efforts through civil and criminal litigation, identifying gaps and control deficiencies to enhance AML & Anti -Fraud programs, and providing regulatory oversight for over 20 different compliance programs.
She is also an NFT entrepreneur, founder of FemFi and MetaMoms NFT, all-female-led organizations that aim to incorporate, educate and empower more women in web3, crypto and NFTs. She has a passion for teaching & training, which led her to the NFT & Web3 space.
