Razing the Bar, whose name was chosen through a law school naming contest, was formed a decade ago. The band has played at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, House of Blues, Music Box Supper Club and Happy Dog Tavern. The band also performs regularly at Cosmic Dave鈥檚 Rock Club on Juniper Road in University Circle, with proceeds going to the Student Public Interest Law Fellowship (SPILF).
While faculty鈥攊ncluding Co-Dean Michael Scharf (vocals, guitar); Professor Charlie Korsmo (keyboards, guitar, vocals); Law Library Director Joe Custer (bass guitar); Professor Kathryn Mercer (vocals); and Professor Andrew Pollis (vocals)鈥攆orm the core of the band, Razing the Bar鈥檚 identity is redefined each year as student members graduate and new musicians join the law school.
This year, the band features two new 1L band members selected via video audition tapes over the summer: Nathaniel Arnholt (guitar and vocals) and Caroline Smith (vocals). They are joined by three 2Ls: Shay Adler (guitar), Michaella Guyot-Polverini (keyboards and vocals), and Kelsy Tshanen (vocals). The band also features three alums, Andy Rumshlag (LAW 鈥22)(drums), Liz Safier (LAW 鈥21) (electric violin), and University Trustee Chuck Hallberg (LAW 鈥77) (guitar).
The band鈥檚 鈥淛am for Justice鈥 set will feature classic rock songs from the 1960s through today, with each song showcasing the talents of different band members.
