Welcome to this month's edition of the School of Graduate Studies newsletter to faculty advisors! Below you will find information on upcoming deadlines, academic policies, news, and more. Past newsletters will be archived on our website for you to review any time you wish.

Important Upcoming Dates

Please make sure you and your students are aware of important dates and deadlines. Some may require your review, approval, and signature.

Submitting Graduation Materials

For students who have applied to graduate for Fall 2024, all final materials must be submitted to Grad Studies by 5:00pm EST on Friday, December 6. Submission of materials includes the completed format check and the uploading of the approved thesis or dissertation to . Students should communicate with their advisors and committee to make sure all approvals are completed. All forms can be downloaded and electronically signed to be emailed to gradstudies@case.edu or returned to our office in Tomlinson 203.

Academic Integrity

Students are expected to uphold standards of academic integrity. If faculty suspect a graduate student may have violated academic integrity standards (including but not limited to plagiarism, falsifying research results, cheating on exams, submitting duplicate work to fulfill assignments in more than one course, forging or altering University documents, etc), submit an Academic Integrity Violation Report with supporting evidence to Senior Associate Dean Lynmarie Hamel. Further action will be determined after the report is reviewed by Grad Studies.

Leave of Absence (LOA) Requests

Students are expected to maintain continuous registration in the fall and spring terms, unless on an approved Leave of Absence (LOA). An LOA may be requested for up to two academic semesters if circumstances arise which make a student unable to maintain their registration. Students and their advisors should review the . Students must submit a written request to the School of Graduate Studies by email to gradstudies@case.edu. Students should check with with their advisor if considering an LOA.

Waiver of Registration

Students who were registered for at least one credit hour during the fall semester may be eligible to waive registration for the spring semester, if they submit all final materials, including the Waiver of Registration form, to gradstudies@case.edu by Friday, January 24. Your student must also apply in SIS for Spring 2025 graduation. The Waiver of Registration form does not require your signature as advisor but international students must also have it signed by Visa & Immigration Services & Advisors Office Signature (VISA).
