Training

Are you looking to learn new skills?

Visit our equipment page to learn how to get started on each of our various machines. We also offer optional classes or workshops offered below or on our .

Training spots are available almost every week of the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Please be patient at the beginning of each semester as we train our team and create the training schedule.

About think[box] Training:
  • Got a Fabrication (4th) Floor project but no think[box] training?
    • Come to the Fabrication Floor with a project, get a safety tour, and work alongside a Student Technician to get started on a first come first served basis.
  • The Fabrication Floor requires training to work unsupervised with machines on the Fabrication Floor. We require training for anyone on the Fabrication Floor to work alone, regardless of experience.
  • The Prototyping (3rd) Floor does not require machine training for unsupervised use of any equipment.
    • We offer machine training to provide a structured learning environment for those interested, but anyone can drop in during open hours and follow our equipment tutorials.
  • Machine training teaches basic safety and machine function. It is not a time to work on a personal project; there is a structured curriculum. If you are struggling to start a project, with one of our makerspace team members!
