Looking to cut shapes out of metal, plastic, or composites? At Sears think[box], you can harness the power of our waterjet cutter to let a high pressure stream of water mixed with an abrasive powder do the work for you.

How to Start 

  1. Bring your material and drawings of your project to think[box] and speak with a staff member. They will help you get set up with the equipment, provide instruction, and supervise. Training is not required!
  2. If you would like to get trained and certified to use this equipment without supervision, read the "How to Get Trained and Certified" section on this page.

How to Get Trained and Certified

  2. Review our to understand what expenses will be involved.
  3. Design your part with your preferred 2D design, 3D modeling, or computer aided design (CAD) software. (Not sure how? We offer a variety of resources so you can learn to use 2D design and 3D modeling software.)
  4. Export your design as a DXF (.dxf) file. Alternatively, .
  5. Come to Sears think[box] and on our computers to create an ORD (.ord) file. 
  6. Review the process for with Intelli-MAX Make.
  7. After you've read the tutorial, schedule a training with a member of our team.

The waterjet cutter can cut through many materials including metal, wood, plastic, composites, and stone. You can review the waterjet cutter’s capabilities to see if your project’s material qualifies.
