Student Employment

The Office of Student Activities & Leadership (SA&L) engages with the undergraduate and graduate student populations to develop opportunities for leadership growth through student organizations and campus traditions. SA&L works closely with other Student Affairs departments (including Residence Life, Greek Life, Multicultural Affairs, Physical Education & Athletics, etc) on several projects throughout the year.

Our office provides many employment opportunities for undergraduate students and graduate students. We invite you to learn more about each of our positions. Each position is unique and offers a variety of leadership experiences, professional development opportunities and scheduling flexibility.

Undergraduate Student Positions

We are currently looking for students for the 2024-2025 academic year to join our team! 

These positions are open to undergraduate students with federal work-study that are enrolled full time at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½.

Social Media Intern

The Social Media intern, under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Engagement, will assist in executing a comprehensive marketing strategy for SA&L, with a strong emphasis on social media engagement. This position will utilize social media platforms to showcase the resources and programs associated with SA&L and ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ student life. Additionally, this individual will work in collaboration with the SA&L professional staff to manage the SA&L website.

SA&L Undergraduate Student Intern

This position will work closely with the Department Coordinator to ensure the day to day operations of the office are carried out. This includes general office responsibilities such as answering the phone fulfilling Sparta Center orders and managing the poster printing and balloon services provided by SA&L.

Graduate Student Positions

We are looking to fill four (4) of our Graduate Assistant positions for the 2024-2025 academic year!

These positions are open to students enrolled in graduate courses as degree-seeking students at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ or a neighboring institution. Graduate Assistants will have the opportunity to strengthen presentation, organization, writing and communication skills while enhancing project management skills. We strive to provide opportunities for graduate assistants in discovering and incubating areas of interest. Operations

The Graduate Assistant for Operations, under the supervision of the SA&L Department Coordinator will actively assist with the delivery of services provided through the Sparta Center (a student programmatic resource outpost located in the SA&L) by training, scheduling, and meeting with undergraduate student interns to ensure that groups reserving the supplies have successful programs. This also includes assisting in managing the inventory of the Sparta Center programmatic resources through Zoho Inventory in conjunction with the Department Coordinator. Additionally, this individual will work directly with the campus community as a front desk customer service assistant, managing day-to-day operations for the office. Finally, this individual will assist in the delivery of the Spartie Mascot Program and act as the co-advisor for the Thwing Study Over Committee.

 

Marketing

The Graduate Assistant for Marketing, under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Engagement will assist in creating marketing materials, with a strong emphasis in graphic design, that showcase the resources and/or programs of SA&L. Additionally, this individual will work directly with the campus community as a front desk customer service assistant, managing day-to-day operations for the office.

 

Leadership Programs

The Graduate Assistant, under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Leadership Programs, will assist in the implementation and evaluation of our comprehensive leadership development program series that remains responsive to the current needs of the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ undergraduate and graduate student populations. The Graduate Assistant will actively assist with the coordination of programs including, but not limited to the Emerging Leaders Program, CliftonStrengths at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, the Leadership Conference, the Student Leadership Awards Ceremony, Senior Week, and Legacy Week. Additionally, this individual will serve as the co-advisor of the Springfest Committee.

 

Programming

The Graduate Assistant for Programming will report to and work with the Associate Director of Student Activities & Leadership, primarily on co-advising the University Program Board and the Senior Week Committee. This person, along with the Associate Director, will also project manage several events including Homecoming (fall semester), the Spring Activities Fair (January), and several SA&L campus-wide programming initiatives.
