The Certificate of Achievement in research skills for Quantitative Methodologies (AQM) offers a unique opportunity for graduate students at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ to specialize in advanced analytics for applied research and study.
What Are Quantitative Methodologies?
Quantitative methodologies are techniques for systematic empirical investigation of behavioral phenomena using statistical, mathematical, numerical or computational approaches. These techniques may operate on structured numerical or unstructured text data.
These essential skills prepare graduate students for conducting and publishing scholarly research while fostering a learning environment that motivates original research across many social science disciplines with a behavioral focus.
Certification Requirements
To qualify for the certificate, students must complete three requirements:
- Successfully complete five, 3-credit-hour approved quantitative methods courses offered on the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ campus, for a total of 15 credit hours.
- Obtain an average grade point of 3.5 or higher in the approved courses for this certificate.
- Take at least one course each from approved Sets A and B (Each course is worth 3 credit hours.)
Course Sets
There are three sets of courses available toward this certificate. Students must take one course each from Sets A and B; otherwise, any combination of courses from Sets A, B, or C qualify for the certificate.
Set A: Approved Quantitative Methods courses at the Weatherhead School of Management
- – Measurement Theory and Method
- – Applied Multivariate Data Analysis
- *– Foundations of Quantitative Research Design
- *– Advanced Analytical Methods
- * – Causal Analysis of Business Problems II
Set B: Approved Quantitative Methods courses at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing
- NURS 630 – Advanced Statistics: Linear Models
- NURS 631 – Advanced Statistics: Multivariate Analysis
- NURS 632 – Advanced Statistics: Structural Equation Modeling
Set C: Approved Quantitative Methods courses at other ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ schools
- – Measurement Issues in Quantitative Research
- EPBI 500 – Design and Analysis of Observational Studies
- EPBI 435 – Survival Data Analysis
- – Multilevel Modeling
*These courses are restricted to students enrolled in the Doctor of Management program at Weatherhead.
Eligibility
The AQM certificate is co-sponsored by the Weatherhead School of Management and Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. Other schools across the University that support advancement of student skills in quantitative methodologies may also participate.
- PhD, DM, Masters, and other graduate students on ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€™s campus are eligible.
- Students will need to meet prerequisites for the approved courses that they plan to apply toward the AQM certification.
- Students must be currently attending ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½.
To add the AQM certificate to your program of study, contact the appropriate representative for your school.
