Welcome Dr. Gina Lewin!
Assistant Professor in the Center for Global Health and Diseases and the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½-Veteran Affairs Center for Antimicrobial Resistance and Epidemiology
Gina Lewin, PhD
Message from the Dr. Adam Burgener, CGHD Director & Dr. Clifford Harding, Pathology Chair:
"CGHD, Pathology, and VA community members,
I would like to welcome Dr. Gina Lewin as a new Assistant Professor in the Center for Global Health and Diseases and the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½-Veteran Affairs Center for Antimicrobial Resistance and Epidemiology (Case VA CARES).
Dr. Lewin brings an exciting program in microbial pathogenesis in oral health and disease, including cutting edge metagenomics and bioinformatics approaches and animal and in vitro model systems. Dr. Lewin trained and obtained her PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Microbiology, followed by NIH F32 and K99 postdoctoral fellowships in oral microbial infectious diseases at Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Texas at Austin, and Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Lewin has a considerable publication record, including recent papers describing how microbial interactions and dynamics affect pathogenesis during infection. Dr. Lewin's program will continue to examine how microbe-microbe and microbe-host interactions influence health and disease in polymicrobial communities, with a special interest in the role of transcriptomic, population-level, and community-level diversity in disease.
Welcome Gina!"
