Support for Student Employees
Student employment programs are administered by the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Office of Student Employment. The two types of student employment at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ are the Federal Work-Study Program and the campus employment program. Approximately two-thirds of the jobs on campus do not require students to have Federal Work-Study eligibility.
It is important for students to understand the employment program they have been awarded (please refer to your Financial Aid Notification Letter on the My Financial Aid portal), and to identify employment opportunities only in the program for which they are eligible.
Federal Work-Study Program
The Federal Work-Study Program is a form of federal financial aid. A portion of the student's wages are paid by the federal government, and the remaining portion is paid by the university department employing the student, up to the student's earnings limit. Any wages a student earns through this program are excluded as income for purposes of financial aid need assessment in subsequent years. Earnings from the Federal Work-Study Program should be correctly reported on the following year’s FAFSA to avoid being penalized for those earnings.
Campus Employment Program
The Campus Employment Program allows a student to work on campus. Unlike work-study, the entirety of the student's wages are paid by the university department employing the student, and any wages earned are considered income for the purposes of financial aid need assessment in subsequent years.
