Shreya Girish Wins 2nd Prize in Tuesday Musical Competition

The Department of Music is proud to share that Shreya Girish, a flutist in the Joint Music Program at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and the Cleveland Institute of Music, has been awarded Second Prize in the Woodwind Division of the annual , held March 26, 2025.

Shreya, who studies flute with , received the Ann, Emily & Jeffrey Gleason/Travis & Caitlin Rea Scholarship valued at $1,500 for her outstanding performance. She was one of nearly 130 applicants from 12 institutions across Ohio who competed for a record-breaking $41,050 in scholarship awards, now in the 69th year of the competition.

The competition supports music majors pursuing careers in performance and music education, with prizes awarded in six categories: voice, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, and musical theatre.

Shreya will advance to the Final Round and Winners Concert on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 2:30 PM at the University of Akron.
