The brings the early-music community of North and South America together for three days of thought-provoking presentations, performances, workshops, and networking, including featured performances by Apollo鈥檚 Fire and Les D茅lices. The 2024 EMA Summit will be on the campus of 星空传媒 and will highlight early-music activities at 星空传媒 and across Cleveland.

welcomes you to come obsess with us about medieval author Christine de Pizan and the music of her era. As a teaser for our upcoming shows (Oct. 25-26) featuring her proto-feminist work, we introduce you to some of the musical practices prevalent in early 15th c. France, including aural learning, the Guidonian hand and hexachordal solmization, fauxbourdon, mensural notation, and counterpoint. Bring instruments (pitch=A440), voices, and appetites (musical and culinary) for this fun and educational chance to muck about in the 15th century!

Les D茅lices featuring soprano Hannah De Priest
In a new program featuring 鈥渕agnetic鈥 (Boston Globe) soprano Hannah De Priest, Les D茅lices makes musical magic with dramatic works from the French and Italian Baroque. 鈥淲ith a voice that is theater itself,鈥 (Classique News), De Priest and a brilliant ensemble including oboe, violins, and continuo will beguile audiences and transport them to the heart of the Baroque Era. Cantatas by Handel, Rameau, Lefebvre, and Bourgeois plus instrumental works by Scarlatti and Corelli.

GRAMMY winners Apollo's Fire and Jeannette Sorrell are hailed for "forging a vibrant, life-affirming approach to early music 鈥 a blend of intellect and artistry" (BBC MAGAZINE). In this concert, the Apollonians revel in the exhilarating masterpieces that J.S. Bach composed for his virtuoso orchestra at the palace of K枚then. Featuring daredevil violinist Alan Choo, violists Nicole Divall and Min-Young Kim, and recorder players Daphna Mor and Kathie Stewart, Apollo's Fire brings to Harkness Chapel their signature "joyous spontaneity" (THE NEW YORKER). Sankofa Sounds: Black Sacred Music Traditions Across Time

In the West African tradition, the Adinkra symbol of 鈥淪ankofa鈥 depicts a bird with its head turned backwards while its feet face forward carrying a precious egg in its mouth. It is primarily understood as 鈥渓ooking back to move forward鈥. Sankofa Project explores the rich tapestry of vocal music created and interpreted by people of African descent in the US and across the diaspora while drawing correlation to works from the European/Western canon. Experience Black music and culture through the annals of history from the hush harbor to the institutional Black church and historically Black colleges to social justice movements

Public Parking
Campus Center Garage Lot 29 (East Blvd.)
Guests are encouraged to park in the (Lot S-29) when visiting campus. This garage is underground and the public entrance is located at 11172 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44106. The entrance located along Bellflower Road is for permit holders only. The garage is public and shared between several buildings, including Severance Hall. Guests of are given priority on performance nights. Special event rates will apply on those occasions. Otherwise, daily rates charge up to $10 max.
Surface Parking Lot 54 (Ford Dr.)
The surface Parking Lot (Lot 54) is owned and operated by 星空传媒. The entrance is located at 1980 Ford Dr., Cleveland, OH 44106. Visitor parking is available at a rate of $1/hour and can be purchased at gate equipment by credit card (see signage on-site for more details).

Metered street parking is available on Bellflower Road and East Blvd. Please see the parking meter for applicable rates and time restrictions.
