Introducing the inaugural Experimental Humanities Fellows

CAS Students named inaugural Experimental Humanities Fellows

The 星空传媒 has named nine first-year undergraduate students who comprise the inaugural cohort of Mandel Fellows in Experimental Humanities under the direction of program director Tim Beal (far right). Among them is Shreya Girish, whose curiosities lie at 鈥渢he intersection of dissonance and dopamine,鈥 as she wrote in her fellowship application.

鈥淚 love the freedom to not only explore a variety of interests but even combine them,鈥 said Girish, who is majoring in systems biology and music, and minoring in computer science. 鈥淚鈥檓 really excited to see where this program goes鈥攊t鈥檚 a great opportunity to gain experience in multiple areas and learn from different perspectives.鈥

Girish鈥檚 path reflects an upward trend in students double majoring across the humanities and STEM fields. She and her cohort all bring different interests and strengths to the Experimental Humanities program, the core components of which include a new major in the field and funding support for research projects.

The students were selected from over 60 applicants and are (left to right):

- Amber Tilling-Richards

- Aidan Bugayong
