Faculty Travel Grant

Maximum Award: $4,500 

The center offers a limited number of competitive grants to support travel to conduct research. Examples of supported research activities include, but are not limited to, travel to collections such as libraries, museums or other archives with materials not otherwise available; travel to a conference with direct impact on the applicant’s research; travel to a study center or research institute. 

Eligibility:

Funds are available to full-time faculty in the arts and humanities within the College of Arts and Sciences including lecturers and instructors. 

Applicants can apply once during the academic year.

Application Deadlines:

Applications are due by 5:00 pm on the dates indicated:

Spring 2025 Semester (Travel January 1 - June 30, 2025) - October 25, 2024

Fall 2025 Semester (Travel July 1 - December 31, 2025) - April 4, 2025

Policies and Expectations:

  • Faculty members are expected to simultaneously apply to the Faculty Travel Program from the College of Arts and Sciences when applying for research travel funding from the Baker-Nord Center.

  • All recipients are required to collaborate with the Baker-Nord Center staff in publicizing their research travel grant to the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ community through the BNC website and other relevant outlets.

  • Resulting publications and presentations should acknowledge the support of the Baker-Nord Center.  Please submit links to scholarly and/or creative products that result from funding.

  • Within one month of the completion of the travel, recipients are required to submit the online  summarizing the travel and describing the work completed and plans for publication or other distribution.  Some aspects of the final report may be used in future BNC external communication materials.

  • Funds are available as reimbursement only.

  • Reimbursement should be processed through the recipient’s home department with the speedtype provided once the final report has been received.
