Research Information

Research Interests

My research has focused on inflammation in vascular injury and repair. I have the expertise in various animal models including vascular injury (atherosclerosis, vasculitis, femoral artery wire injury) and thrombosis (carotid artery photochemical injury, tail bleeding time, intravital laser-induced thrombosis of the microvasculature, deep vein thrombosis) models. I had been trained and worked in several prestigious research institutes, including Harvard Medical School, University of Cambridge of England, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, and Chinese Academy of Sciences. I have a broad background and knowledge in molecular and cellular biology, immunology, cell signaling with expertise in animal models and vascular biology. I have over 20 years research experience in a variety of research fields and published about 50 original research papers in peer-reviewed journals including Nature Communications, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Circulation, Science, and Cell.

Research Projects

My current research effort centers on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis and thrombosis, focusing on myeloid-related protein-14 (S100A9), leukocyte b2-integrins (Mac-1, aMb2), and the forkhead transcription factor Foxp1. We have generated critical data providing insights in the treatment of the cardiovascular disorders by targeting pathways involving MRP-14, Mac-1 and through theranostic approaches. In addition, my research also includes elucidating the role of skin inflammation in cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis and thrombosis.
