Maria Stutsman y Marquez joined the Weatherhead School of Management in September as the associate dean of recruitment and enrollment. Her primary responsibilities are aimed at attracting prospective students and admitting a talented and dynamic cohort of candidates across programs through developing and implementing recruitment and admissions strategies; collaborating with academic directors and other stakeholders across the community; maintaining an awareness and analyzing trends; and representing Weatherhead across different channels for marketing.
"I'm most thrilled about the opportunities to collaborate with the faculty, staff, alumni and current students to support candidates from their initial inquiry through the broader student journey," she said.
Prior to this role, Stutsman y Marquez worked for the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business and resided in South Bend, Indiana. Her hometown, though, is Taos, New Mexico.

What makes you most excited about joining Weatherhead?
Weatherhead has bold, visionary leaders, both in faculty and staff—those who truly wish to inspire positive change! In a short month, I sense the Weatherhead community to be grounded in their work while adaptable and attune to change, and that is a rare balance. It is exciting to become a part of a legacy of innovation and change thought leadership, and to work alongside generous, authentic and kind people. I have to say that the entire enrollment and recruitment team have been great guides and supporters during this transition, along with so many others in the community. I feel grateful for this opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself, and toward the charge of excellence!
What do you look forward to exploring in Cleveland?
I adore all of the parks and access to nature, and I'm set up to attend a few shows at Playhouse Square and watch the Cavs play the Golden State Warriors. I also look forward to learning more about the history and the towns that make up the greater Cleveland area. Being from New Mexico, I am typically interested in learning more about the people who have stewarded the land before it was settled.

I appreciate the access to all the great restaurants in Cleveland, and while it's not a hobby, more like a duty, I found a place to practice yoga. I recently read "Primal Leadership" by Richard Boyatzis, "When the World Breaks" by Jason Adam Miller and "The Fearless Organization" by Amy Edmondson. And, I adore playing volleyball, though my knees are less inspired! Family is also quite important to me, and I'll be excited to give them a tour of the building and the greater area when they visit from New Mexico.
