Q: What are you up to this summer?
I have been busy running my small business .

For my business, I bake cookies for weddings, graduation parties, and even first birthday parties. My custom sugar cookies have included greyhounds, graduation caps, and even Baby JJ and CoComelon. I have also been busy at the sewing machine as I have had orders for handmade aprons, potholders, headbands, dog bandanas, and T-shirt blankets.

In addition to running Made by Milana I work at The Steel Plate Restaurant. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and boyfriend. I especially enjoy play dates with my two little friends Laina (4) and Londyn (8) who, along with my brother Jack, are my taste testers.

Q: When did you decide to start your own business?
I started Made by Milana in March 2021. I love to bake and sew and since I was taking my classes online during my first year at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, I had access to my sewing machine and the ability to bake in my free time. I occasionally take a portion of my proceeds and donate them to local nonprofits that support education, health and animal welfare initiatives. My work in the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ has made me aware of civic responsibility, and while I was home, I thought this would be a way to improve my community.
