The Weatherhead School of Management Department of Accountancy held its annual spring banquet in the Tinkham Veale University Center Ballroom to recognize the work and dedication of its students and alumni.

鈥淥ur 2022 banquet showcased the talent our graduates will soon bring to the profession of accountancy,鈥 said Tom King, department chair and professor of accountancy. 鈥淭he event also reminded us of the reach of the 星空传媒 alumni network.鈥

Richard Cruickshank (MGT 鈥99), director of KPMG鈥檚 deal advisory practice in Washington D.C., gave the Dickerson Lecture at the banquet, where he shared advice and lessons learned with current students. The Dickerson Lecture honors Thomas Dickerson, department chair of accountancy from 1934-1963.

Three students who are graduating this spring with Bachelor of Science in Accounting degrees received the top awards at the banquet.

The three students and the award received are:

  • Margaret Zimmer, Weatherhead School of Management Award for Most Outstanding Senior in Accounting
  • Jenna Ruccolo, Andrew D. Braden Award for Excellence in Auditing and Financial Reporting Studies
  • Sara Folger, Thomas Dickerson Award for Excellence in Professional Accountancy Studies

鈥淩eceiving the award felt like a great recognition for all the work I鈥檝e put in over the past four years,鈥 said Folger, who is also studying minors in Spanish and psychology.

This summer, Folger will be interning at Ernst & Young in their Tysons, Virginia office. She will return to Weatherhead School in the fall to complete her final semester of the Master of Accountancy Integrated Program.

Ruccolo is also studying a minor in banking and finance. This summer, Ruccolo will be interning at Deloitte in the firm's Chicago office prior to pursuing her master鈥檚 degree in accounting-valuation at Vanderbilt University.

Zimmer is graduating this spring with a secondary bachelor鈥檚 degree in finance. After graduation she will return to Weatherhead School to complete her master of accountancy in the integrated program.

鈥淚t was interesting talking to people in different stages of their career, from current freshmen to alumni near retirement,鈥 Zimmer said about the banquet. 鈥淚t was a really fun night to recognize and celebrate all the amazing people connected to Weatherhead!鈥
