Corinne Coen

Associate Professor
Organizational Behavior
Weatherhead School of Management

Corinne Coen, PhD, thinks about why people cooperate in teams and how managers can get them to cooperate more often. She investigates cooperative dynamics within teams, between teams, and how to design teams to elicit productive interdependence. She is an expert in the study of complex systems and emergence.

Coen joined the faculty at Weatherhead School of Management in 2009. Her PhD is from the University of Michigan, and she holds an MBA from University of Chicago. Her research has appeared in numerous publications including Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Organization Science, and Simulation Modeling Practice and Theory.

Coen has presented at many conferences including the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Academy of Management, International Association for Conflict Management, INGRoup, INFORMS, and the North American and European Social Simulation Associations (NAACSOS and ESSA). In 2008, she received the Outstanding Leadership and Contribution Award from the Academy of Management.

At Weatherhead, she teaches Developing Interpersonal Skills for Managers, Leading Organizations, Leading Teams through Interpersonal Relationships, Research and Theory on Dynamical Behavior in Groups, and Research Methods, among others. Coen is the recipient of the 2014 and 2015 Weatherhead Lewis-Progressive Fellowship, the 2015 Weatherhead Doctoral Teaching and Mentoring Award, and the 2014 Weatherhead Emerging Impact Award.
