Abstract Submission Process
Submit the abstract on your registration form. When you do, the Undergraduate Research Office will give an initial approval, which will then automatically route a notice to your project mentor (and also your PI if different) that your abstract needs approval. Your mentor will work with you and can make a note on the document (or a chat) when the abstract is ready for the PI to give the final abstract approval. The Undergraduate Research Office will receive notice that your abstract is approve, and we will provide a final approval that you are ready to present at Intersections!
Faculty Mentor (Primary Investigator) Approval
Undergraduate research always is faculty mentored. Most undergraduate researchers' faculty mentors are the Primary Investigator, that is the faculty member who "owns" the research, oversees the lab, hires the Post Docs, etc. The Undergraduate Research Office must know that the Primary Investigator knows and approve of your plans to present your project at Intersections. We know this when your Primary Investigator approves your abstract.
Undergraduate researchers may also have a project mentor who worked most closely with your project. This project mentor may be a Post Doc or Research Faculty or staff member. If this is true for you, please provide both your project mentor and the Primary Investigator on your Intersections registration form. We want your project mentor to note their approval (or they can communicate directly with the PI that they approve.
ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ students need not have conducted the research on the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ campus to present at Intersections (e.g. students who want to present their summer research). The research must have been done when students were undergraduates and not prior to your college enrollment. Presenters must provide the name, institution and email of the non-ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ mentor (and PI if different) with whom they worked. The project mentor (and PI if different) must approve the research presentation by approving the abstract submission.
