College campuses offer copious resources and support systems. They can often seem complicated, hard to find/reach, or difficult to understand. Whether it is mental health resources, getting connected to student organizations here on campus, or finding your affinity group, it’s not always easy to make that connection. 

Residence Life works closely with the entire campus to ensure you can feel like you belong. We are here for you. We live, work, and celebrate alongside you within each of our communities.

This means that we are here to celebrate your successes. We are here to help you stand back up if there are bumps in the road. We share the road with you on your journey through ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½.

 


On-Call Support 

The Office of Residence Life is open 24-hours a day and 365 days per year in one capacity or another. We have a multi-level approach to providing this continuous support for our residential students. Our on-call system will respond to issues directly from student outreach or through Public Safety's Dispatch system.

Resident Assistant On-Call (RAOC)

The on-call rotation at this level is staffed by our undergraduate Resident Assistants. Each Residential Community (Cedar Magnolia, Juniper, Mistletoe, Clarke Tower, Carlton Road , Noyes-Fayette, Murray Hill, and Upperclass) has at least one RA on-call every night of the week.


Supervisor On-Call (SOC)

The on-call rotation at this level is staffed by our full-time Residential Community Directors, Assistant Residential Community Directors, and Graduate Resident Directors. 


Senior Staff On-Call (SSOC)

Staff on this level include the Director of Residence Life, the Director of Greek Life, Associate Director of Residence Life, the Associate Director of Greek Life, and Assistant Director of Residence Life - ILE.


Dean of Students On-Call (DOS)

Staff on this level include the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students, the Senior Associate Dean of Students, Associate Dean of Students, and Senior Assistant Dean of Students.

Residents have 24/7 continuous access to their specific residential facility. Additionally, residents can access residence halls within their residential community during the following times:

  • Weekdays: 9am-midnight on weekdays
  • Weekends: 11am-midnight on weekends

Note: residents utilizing community access are still considered guests within that community and should be hosted by a resident in that building. Exceptions are granted when a resident is attending a community event or meeting.

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ provides lockout service to all residential students free or charge. Below are specific instructions for lockouts and access issues based on the time of day. 


Daytime Lockouts: Residents locked out of their building or room space during the day should proceed to the University Housing Area Office within their Residential Village.

  • Wade Commons offers support for the North Residential Village (NRV)
  • Fribley Commons offers support for the South Residential Village (SRV)

Overnight Lockouts: Outside of Area Office business hours, all residents are able to utilize the Residence Life on-call system for support if they become locked out of their building or room space.

Our Resident Assistants On-Call (RAOC) provide the following coverage for both building and room lockouts: 

  • Weekdays (Sunday through Thursday)
    • 10pm until 8am, the following morning
  • Weekends (Friday and Saturday) 
    • Friday nights from 9pm until 11am on Saturday mornings. 
    • Saturday nights from 9pm until Noon on Sundays.

Self-Service Lockouts: many areas allow residents to complete a self-service let-in if they are locked out in their areas. Self-service lockout users should proceed to their myHousing to complete this process. 

Residents can complete a self-service lockout as long as they have access to their Duo dual factor authentication on a personal device. 

Buildings that offer self-service lockouts are: all First-Year Experience community buildings, Noyes House, Fayette House, Stephanie Tubbs Jones House, and Village Houses 6 & 7. All other buildings require in-person lockout support.

We work very closely with the Dean of Students, University Health & Counseling Services, Public Safety, your Four-Year Advisor, and many other offices on campus to ensure community health, well-being, and safety. 

Residence Life commits to helping you persevere throughout your time with us. Below are some examples of when we might reach out to you or you might reach out to us.

The goal of the Community Concerns Reporting System (CCRS) is to help educate and promote an inclusive community by supporting students through a clear and streamlined process for reporting incidents of perceived mistreatment, cultural/ethnic insensitivity, and bias.

Our staff will sometimes stop by your room to check on you and to provide specific support for issues that have been reported by other community members. This could be for a variety of reasons, such as...

  • One of your faculty members is worried about academic engagement
  • your RA staff member hasn’t seen you in a while, 
  • Residence Life or Public Safety has received reports from other areas of the University that you’re struggling with something specific.
  • We've received a report from a non-community member with a specific concern about your well-being. 

Our goal is to help you in the ways that we can, regardless of what you’re experiencing.

If you’re worried about a friend, classmate, coworker, or someone that you don’t know very well, we are here to help. Your Residential Community Director can help to coordinate outreach, even if someone doesn’t live within your community, or even on-campus.
