Each month, the Center for Research and Scholarship at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing sends an internal research newsletter to faculty, staff, students and researchers. A recap is posted here.

A Message from the Associate Dean for Research

Dear School of Nursing faculty, students and staff,

Since our last RE/Search newsletter, there have been significant changes impacting our community. The landscape of federal research policy continues to evolve, but the Center for Research and Scholarship (CFRS) remains committed to ensuring our faculty, staff, and students have the necessary support to thrive. While these shifts present challenges, they also open avenues for strategic adaptation and innovation to sustain our commitment to advancing science that benefits everyone.

Unrelated to the executive orders or memos issued in late January, a new requirement for National Institutes of Health (NIH) biosketches will go into effect on May 25, 2025. The NIH is transitioning to Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv) as the required platform for biosketch creation to enhance consistency and reduce administrative burden. There aren't any substantial changes to the biosketch format. Still, using the SciENcv platform is now mandatory to generate these documents containing metadata used to authenticate them. This newsletter highlights several hands-on sessions to help our faculty and students prepare their NIH biosketches using SciENcv.

As federal priorities shift, we will remain steadfast to our research mission and continue to generate impactful research while adapting to evolving policies. I encourage you to stay engaged, informed, and proactive as we move forward together. Don't hesitate to contact CFRS for guidance and take advantage of upcoming SciENcv training.
