The Neurosciences Department hosts weekly Journal Club/Works-in-Progress presentations.
Once each year, each graduate student presents an oral critique of a research article or their own thesis research progress to the entire department. Postdocs are also given the opportunity to present their work.
First-year students present a research article. Second-year students are given the choice to present an article or their own work. Third and Fourth-year students present their work.
Presentations last 30 to 45 minutes and are followed by a discussion period, in which students, training faculty, and the audience are encouraged to ask questions and provide detailed feedback on the scientific content of the article/work presented and most importantly the effectiveness of the trainee’s oral and slide presentation. Students appreciate the constructive nature of these sessions and it has served, uniformly, to greatly improve their subsequent presentations.
The Neurosciences Journal Club is a highly valued experience for our students as it serves to substantially improve the trainee’s skill and poise when presenting research findings to a broad audience.
Journal club attendance is open to members of the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ community.
