The Freedman Fellows Program is now accepting applications from full-time faculty and students for the 2021-2022 academic year. Since its inception the program has provided more than $200,000 in targeted funding to advance digital scholarship research, teaching, and learning at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. In addition to financial support, awardees also receive year-long project guidance and technical help from experts at the Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship. 

1. are open to full-time faculty from all schools and departments, and fund well-defined research projects that involve the application of digital tools and methods to scholarly or pedagogical problems. For examples of some past projects, please see the list of . Applicants may request funding amounts up to $15,000. Awarded amounts may vary depending on the scope of the project and number of applicants.
2. are open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Weatherhead School of Management, and the School of Engineering. Student fellowships provide funding and support to employ digital scholarship methods in pursuit of significant and impactful digital research, which may include research undertaken as part of undergraduate capstones, and graduate theses or dissertations. For examples of some past projects, please see the list of . Applicants may request funding amounts up to $2,500. Awarded amounts may vary depending on the scope of the project and number of applicants.
3. The is open to one full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Weatherhead School of Management, or the School of Engineering. This unique opportunity provides a student with hourly compensation ($15 / hour for up to 6 hours per week) to work on digital research that actively involves Kelvin Smith Library's diverse collections. The student recipient will work under the direction of a chosen faculty mentor. To be considered for the Collections Researcher opportunity, a student and a faculty member must co-apply. This opportunity is particularly well-suited to undergraduate and early graduate students who would like to gain hands-on research experience in digital scholarship.
