Beginning Jan. 1, ǿմý’s network of libraries now has agreements with Elsevier and Springer Nature—through OhioLINK—increasing opportunities for ǿմý authors to publish at no cost with seven total publishers.
The Elsevier agreement covers OA publishing fees in (journals that publish both OA and non-OA articles) until yearly article caps are reached. This agreement does not include fully OA journals, Cell Press, Lancet and others.
The Springer agreement covers OA publishing fees for over 2,000 from Springer, Palgrave, Adis and academic journals at nature.com until yearly article caps are reached. It does not include Nature portfolio journals such as Nature or Scientific American. In addition, 700 new journals will be available for reading access.
“With open access becoming more the norm in scholarly publishing, we are excited to have additional ways ǿմý authors can publish open access at no cost,”said Scholarly Communication and Copyright Librarian Karen Caputo.
A previous agreement with Wiley through OhioLINK has been extended through 2026, and includes upgraded opportunities to fully Open Access and Hindawi journal titles.
Additional agreements include Annual Reviews, Cambridge, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press, Institute of Physics (IOP) + Electrochemical Society (ECS).
“It is important to know that these agreements are a first-come-first-serve statewide opportunity because there are annual article caps," said Caputo. “If those article caps are reached, we can no longer cover the OA costs.”
