Health Resources

MetroHealth's Pride Clinic at the McCafferty Health Center is the first clinic in the region and one of only 12 health centers in the country devoted to serving the health needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. 

A provider from the Pride Clinic can see you at any MetroHealth location, including the MetroHealth Cleveland Heights Medical Center located at 10 Severance Cir, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118. Call (216) 524-7377 to make an appointment. 

Note: MetroHealth will ask for a legal name before they will enter a preferred name to make an appointment.

Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Care opened at the Chagrin Falls Family Health Center and . Embedded in a primary care practice, the center provides care for all patients in a safe and welcoming environment. It includes providers who understand the health needs of LGBT patients, and access to specialists with expertise in LGBT care.

 specializes in LGBT health and co-chairs Cleveland Clinic’s Gay and Lesbian Employee Resource Group. Dr. Hekman helped design the center and has moved his internal medicine practice to Lakewood.

From physical check-ups to counseling and psychiatry, The Centers offer integrated care that tends to the whole you. The Centers serves everyone—regardless of their ability to pay. They have a flexible sliding fee scale for most offerings, and also accept private insurance. At five convenient healthcare locations, The Centers offer: flexible hours, family appointments, urgent care, same-day appointments, and walk-in hours for some services. The AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland provides a compassionate and collaborative response to the needs of people infected, affected by, and at risk of HIV/AIDS. Trans Lifeline 

A crisis line for transgender people currently in need of support and assistance.

This helpline is staffed 1-9pm Monday-Friday by transgender people for transgender people, and is supported by donors.

Health Insurance

Transgender Health Care Benefits for Students

Gender affirmation care is covered by Aetna for students.

Transgender Benefits: In-Network: 80% of eligible charges are paid for by The Plan, the remaining 20% of charges are the responsibility of the student. There is no cost limit to surgeries per Plan year. Hormone Therapy is covered under the prescription benefit. Please contact the LGBT Center with questions or concerns about navigating insurance policies.

TransOhio is dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights of trans, nonbinary, intersex, and gender nonconforming people in Ohio.

TransOhio’s emergency fund provides emergency assistance to trans people including transgender, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, 2spirit, and intersex individuals and families of trans youth who are personally impacted by anti-trans laws in Ohio.

Margie’s Hope was founded in 2011. Our history and purpose has been to enrich the lives of Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Expansive people in the community. Margie’s Hope offers resources and support through our community programs and our not for profit resale store, .

A bridge to community resources

Haus of Transcendent, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, connects LGBTQI2S+ adults to community resources that address the social determinants of health.

PFLAG is creating a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. Cleveland's chapter has been active in this effort since 1985.

Support Group Meetings occur on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, with options for 'in-person' or 'virtual', via ZOOM.
