The U.S. National Science Foundatio²Ô’s (NSF Engines) program "catalyzes and fosters innovation ecosystems across the United States ³Ù´Ç:

Cultivate partnerships across industry, academia, government, nonprofits, civil society, and communities of practice;

Spur regional innovation and talent."
Because the Biden administration and Congress "recognized the value of advancing transdisciplinary, collaborative, use-inspired and translation research and technology development in key technology focus areas," they authorized the NSF Engines program in the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 (Section 10388).
ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ has been awarded a NSF Engines Development (Type-1) Award (Award Number 2302943), with funding of up to $1M and two years to allow awardees to develop a Regional Engine.
