HRYHORY KYTASTY CLEVELAND SCHOOL OF BANDURA

For almost forty years, the Hryhory Kytasty Cleveland School of Bandura has nurtured students in Parma, Ohio, to develop their knowledge of the bandura and of traditional Ukrainian music and song. Named for bandura virtuoso, composer, and conductor Hryhory Kytasty, members of the school have performed in community functions, concerts, festivals, and other special events.

Through the ongoing dedication and undying enthusiasm of administrator Dr. Taras Mahlay, the school’s instructors, and its many students, the Ukrainian bandura tradition continues to thrive and grow in northeast Ohio as the bandura’s beautiful notes and melodies captivate the hearts of Ukrainians and those new to the tradition.
