PURPOSE: To ensure the safety and enjoyment of University Farm visitors while preserving the condition of the property.

SCOPE: The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Farm is private property that supports research and other academic initiatives. The site also hosts athletic events, for-credit classes, group event rentals, and limited opportunities for recreation. While the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Farm is not a public park, visitors are welcomed to hike in designated areas during open hours.

University Farm staff will enforce these rules as necessary.

  • The University Farm is open seven days a week, 7:00 am - 8:00 pm (May through September) and 7:00 am - 6:00 pm (October through April).
    • Hours can change without notice due to special events or emergencies.
    • Visit case.edu/farm or the kiosk located in the main parking lot for additional information about hours of operation.
    • The University Farm is typically staffed Mon - Fri from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.
    • Public restroom facilities are available during hours of operation.
    • Any vehicle left on the property overnight will be ticketed and towed.
       
  • Although the University Farm is primarily for use by ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ faculty, students, staff, and alumni, we welcome the entire community to safely enjoy the property.
     
  • Visitors must always stay on the marked trails and observe all posted signs designating areas as off limits to guests or marked for research use only. Visitors are encouraged to hike with a partner since cell phone coverage can be sporadic.
     
  • Visitors must pick up after themselves when visiting the University Farm. Trail cameras are active in several locations to monitor activity.
     
  • Picking or foraging of plants, mushrooms, flowers, or produce is prohibited.
     
  • Please observe wildlife from a distance. Fishing or the disturbance of wildlife is prohibited.
     
  • Use of off-road vehicles on University Farm property is prohibited without prior permission from University Farm staff.
     
  • Ponds within University Farm property are designated for research and wildlife only. Swimming or wading by humans or pets is prohibited.
     
  • Horseback riding on University Farm property is prohibited.
     
  • Farm-owned, permanent grills may not be used without reserving the accompanying event space in advance. No other grilling is permitted on University Farm property.
     
  • Consumption of alcohol on University property is prohibited without the appropriate permission per ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€™s alcohol policy.
     
  • Visitors accompanied by their dogs must adhere to the following rules:
    • Dogs must be leashed per ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ policy and the Village of Hunting Valley ordinance 505.01. Violators will be reported to the Hunting Valley Police Department and lose the privilege of visiting the University Farm.
    • No more than two dogs per visitor.
    • There are several annual events that will require dogs to be prohibited from the property. Signage will be posted at the main entrance to notify visitors.
    • Dog owners should be aware that coyotes are present on the property.
       
  • Research conducted onsite by ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ faculty and students must have prior approval by University Farm staff.
     
  • Groups of 10 or more people planning to visit the University Farm must contact University Farm staff in advance, farm@case.edu.
     
  • Rental facilities are available to the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ community by contract Monday - Saturday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
    • Information about rentals can be found at case.edu/farm/facilities.
    • ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€™s events policy applies to all University Farm rentals.
    • Fires are ONLY allowed with reservations at the Pink Pig or the November Meeting Center.
    • To prevent the spread of disease, bringing firewood to University Farm property is prohibited.
    • Firewood for reserved facilities will be provided by University Farm staff.
