The Common Reading program is designed to help new students make a successful transition from high school to ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ life. All new students receive a copy of the book the summer prior to their arrival to campus, and have the opportunity to meet the author at the university's Fall Convocation.
For Academic Year 2024-25, the common reading selection is The Kissing Bug: A True Story of a Family, an Insect, and a Nation's Neglect of a Deadly Disease by Daisy Hernández, Associate Professor of Creative Writing at Northwestern University.
The common reading selection is the subject of the University's Fall Convocation activities, and it often plays a role in the Writing Program's first-year Academic Inquiry seminars. The Writing Resource Center is always available to talk with students about critical reading, writing, and thinking - we look forward to discussing this text with you!
